REFRAMING OPPORTUNITIES

FRAMING PUBLIC ISSUES

naming and reframing public issues to inform decision making
IF we are to disrupt  conventional thinking about parent engagement in learning

THEN we must value the wisdom/capabilities  drawn from diverse knowledge domains

WHY explore these domains?

People engaged in business/community/education/social change  are parents too!. In their other roles, they are engaged in  designing, delivering and reviewing innovative practices  that create demand /respond to customer needs and deliver a Return on Investment (ROI) measured in terms of social benefit brand integrity, $ profit.

The wisdom gained in this agile learning context produces diverse expertise, tools structures and tactics relevant to other parents, institutions and systems with a mission/mandate for supporting learning in chaordic contexts

Conclusion 7: Across communities of practice and research traditions, inconsistency in conceptual terminology is a barrier to collaboration and progress..

HOW can we begin this conversation ?
Ask the generic questions within domains  WHO ~ PEOPLE ; WHY ~PURPOSES ;WHERE ~ PLACES ;HOW ~PROCESSES WHAT~ PRODUCTS

Identify themes and patterns  of concepts ,principles and capabilities  across disciplinary/domain boundaries

WHAT outputs will be available to focus the conversation?

A  evidence informed framework for engaging parents with diverse talents in the collaborative design of next practice parent engagement in learning .

I am still influenced by my masters program under the fantastic Dr Anne Silcock. I remember quoting Bronfenbrenner 1977 Towards an experimental ecology of human development

"It can be said that much of developmental psychology is the science of the strange behaviour of children in strange situations with strange adults for the briefest possible time "

SO  I am drawn to getting my evidence from multiple sources on the basic assumption that no one discipline/knowledge domain  holds all the wisdom BUT multiple perspectives disrupt the comfort zones, challenge unconscious biases  and avoid the specious practice of applying Dr Google to find an answer that suits my purpose
